It's been a while

Hello and welcome to my blog of my life.

I previously wrote a blog called 'College Life'. This was 4 years ago now and much has changed about me since then.

I've moved on into adult life now, and although I still live with my parents, we live in another town now, which has made me realise just how tough it is to be so far away from all your close friends. However I have made some friends through the 4 different places I've worked since my last blog, although I must admit that I kind of ain't terribly great at keeping up communication with these people, so if you're one of those people I've met through work, I say hello.

Speaking of work, I've now had 5 different jobs across 4 different industries. My first job was working as a Bus Driver (A bit unusual for a first job which might explain why I was not successful in this job). Doing this meant doing my Bus Driver Training which was paid for by the company that I worked for at the time. Following on from this I took on an apprenticeship working for the world's only commercial Hovercraft operator. I loved this job, the people I worked with and the working environment in general, however my the role of my job changed and that sadly meant that this job was no longer suited to me. I then took a job as a Home Delivery Driver at Tesco, and although I enjoyed the job at first it became apparent that it was just too stressful for me and I grew to really hate the job (Doing a job that you hate really eats you, trust me). I took a transfer to become a checkout operator at the same store, and although I did enjoy the chilled nature of the job, it offered me hardly any prospects for development within the workplace.

Then, my life changed again. During my time at Tesco, and when I decided that delivery driver was just too stressful for me, I saw an advert from my local Train Operator looking for station based staff. I've always wanted to work on the railways, ever since I was a child, so I though to myself "I'd be stupid not applying for that." I'm pleased that I applied for this job, as it is the job I am in now and it offers me a great way to progress through the company. My options are open now, once I have passed my probationary period I can make steps towards working either within station management, area management or corporate management. On the operational side, I could progress up to work as a Guard on the Train, or even take the fast track (I know, very punny haha) to becoming a Train Driver.

Outside of work, I do actually have some interests OTHER than sleeping. My old habit of almost consistently playing on my Xbox has scaled back to just playing on my Xbox once or twice a week, but that's what happens when you get into grown up life. I do go out and socialise, be it going out in the evening or having a nice cosy night in with friends. Most of my friends live about 2 hours travelling time away now, and thanks to a ferry trip being involved, it's 2 hours to get to them regardless of whether I go in my car or use public transport. Yes, I have a car now, a very nice car too I should add.

I close this entry by saying this: Look out for my next post, it should be in the next few days and I don't yet know what I'm going to write about
